School And Public Health Nurses Association

SAPHNA has been established as a registered charity as champions for School Nursing and the

communities in which we work, driving forward and improving the quality and consistency of

School Nursing support to children, young people, families and communities.

School Nurses have a background in nursing and/or midwifery prior to taking additional

qualifications at degree and/or masters level in public health. Our work is targeted to improving the

public’s health where you live; the service is universal and non-discriminatory. We work through

direct one-to-one and/or group contact with children, families and communities in the home, school

or community venues. We provide a unique and vital link between home and wherever the child is

educated and/or trained.

SAPHNA does not currently charge for membership nor do we receive any core funding from government or others, therefore, what we can achieve is determined by the income we can raise. Therefore, we rely on and welcome your support and ask you to consider making a donation. This will be used to directly improve School Nursing activities, improving children, young people and their family’s lives, especially those most in need.

We already have strong links and have worked with a number of corporate and third sector partners

representing children, young people and families, and, as such, will ensure that our activities are

always focused on the greatest need, such as child sexual exploitation, poverty, and the ever-growing impact of poor emotional health and well-being. See our What We Do page for further information on how we have done this so far.

The School and Public Health Nurses Association is a registered charity. Our recognised charitable status is still pending.

If you would like to make a direct donation to SAPHNA, to support our work there are a number of

ways you can choose. Direct Debits are particularly welcome as they provide a regular income. All

donations are tax deductible. Additionally, if you are a UK tax payer you can increase your donation

to us by 25%, and at no extra cost by agreeing to "Gift Aid" it when you donate; We hope to soon set-up the facility to do this.

Corporate Support

SAPHNA are keen to build upon and further develop partnerships with ethical companies.

As the only organisation solely focused on the work of School Nursing we would be interested in discussing partnership opportunities which could have direct benefit for children, families and communities, particularly our most vulnerable.

Consider working with us, or making us the recipient of a charitable donation from your company or

workforce. Your support will be recognised on our website, and in our annual report.

For further information please contact us using the form at the bottom of the page.

In Celebration and Remembrance

Making a memorial donation can often bring comfort at the loss of a loved one and provides a way

of honouring that person and all that they stood for.

This also provides opportunity to celebrate someone’s life such as that of a much loved colleague or family member who was a School Nurse, or someone who was touched by the School Nursing service.

As an organisation we would be honoured to discuss with you how we might help your donation to

be special to you, your family and others, by directing it to a specific activity. This might be in the

form of a School Nursing award to recognise excellence in practice, travel bursary, research, study

and/or to support development of innovation and publications. This way not only do individuals

benefit but it also impacts on the wider School Nursing service and, therefore, our clients.

Please contact us if you would like to discuss this further by phone or using the form at the bottom of the page.
